New Chick Corea Elektric Band CD...

Below is some info on the new CCEB CD per Eric Marienthal. I can't wait for this to hit the shelves. He said the CD will be available in May... if anyone learns of a specific release date, please pass it along...

THE NEW CHICK COREA ELEKTRIK BAND CD

"Last September the Elektric Band got together to record a new record entitled "To the Stars." It comes out in May of this year. The record is a reunion of the original band with Dave Weckl, John Patitucci, Frank Gambale, myself and Chick. Chick has already said that it's one of his favorite EB record. The writing is nothing short of amazing. When we first heard the demos that Chick put together my first reaction was that, once again, Chick has found yet another direction to go in and I knew that the sessions where going to be an adventure!
We had 4 days of rehearsals and 5 days of recording scheduled all at the studio. Chick decided to rehearse right there in the studio to get the sounds and everything together so that it would be all set when the first recording day came around. But after rehearsing the first tune on the first rehearsal day Chick said, "Why don't we put one down?" From that point on I knew that the line between the rehearsals and the recording had just melted away. By the time the first "recording" day came around half the record was "in the can".
It really is an amazing record and I'm incredibly proud to be on it. Everybody blew their butts off!! Wait till you hear it!!!"

Is the concept of the EB to have everyone on electric instruments? If so, does it mean Weckl will be playing some electric stuff too?

Yeah, kinda like that old cheezy Godzilla reunion flick - you know, the one w all the most famous Japanese monsta's gathered together on one place, tearin' up 'da joint...i'm pretty sure it was called Destroy All Monsters, or some shtuff like that...

...except thet it's def NOT gonna be "cheezy" [musically]...but it def WILL be a "Monsta 'Slug-Fest'".... [img]wink.gif[/img]

Sorry if i'm bringing up a "belated" sensitive ish, but i just noticed it, & i'm surprised it hasn't been brought up here, unless i just happened to miss it...

...did anyone notice on the mainpage of Weckl's site [the scrolling clinic tour dates at bottom R] where, on 2-6/7-04, at Blues Alley DC, "due to a death in the family, D Chambers will be filling in for Dave?"

Anyone know anything about this [other than the stated obvious]?
